Circa 1938-1946: The large and shallow fruit bowl was originally designed as part of the Kitchen Kraft line and was named a Bowl nappie by master potter Frederick Rhead. Meant to be paired with the ceramic fork and spoon in a three piece ensemble, the bowl was instead folded into the fiestaware line. Inside rings were added and the impressed mark "fiesta HLC USA" added to the molds. Only produced for eight years, the large bowl will be found in the first six vintage colors and will be very hard to find in excellent condition without signs of damage or use. This example in the yellow glaze is spectacular. It boasts an exceptionally even yellow glaze and no signs of use. Marked in the mold "fiesta HLC USA" and measuring an impressive 11 5/16" wide x 3" tall.
