Circa 1936-1946: The vintage Fiesta footed salad bowl is one of the most sought after pieces of the entire fiesta pottery line. This large bowl measures nearly 11 1/2" wide. Far fewer of these large footed salad bowls were produced than, say, the vegetable nappy bowl, so these beauties are a rare treat for the collector. Slip cast and then the rings would be worked by hand using the jiggering machine. The foot would also be hand jiggered and shaped on a machine much like a woodworkers lathe. Bands of concentric rings adorn the top, both inside and out, the inside bottom and all around the detailed foot. This example is in very good condition without any chips or cracks, no touchups or repairs and no real signs of use. It is discounted because of two in the making very small flaws. One glaze pop on the inside bottom of the bowl and one on the side under the glaze color contamination spec (both are part of the manufacturing process, but taken into consideration and discounted accordingly). The glaze is great, thick and rich and even with perfect unused shine and no scratches. Nicely marked on the bottom with the glazed stamp "GENUINE fiesta HLC USA".
