Circa 1936-1942: The large fiestaware 12" footed comport (compote) is a delightful piece of vintage tableware that transcends dinnerware and elevates the line into art pottery. The foot was molded seperately from the bowl and would have been attached to the underside by hand and then the foot rings and underside rings would have been etched into each piece one at a time. This example in the original red colored glaze would have been discontinued by the end of 1942. It is in excellent condition without scratches, signs of use or chips. Please note some minor glaze misses on the bottom of the foot and one spot of glaze contamination from in the making, under the glaze, on the outer rim of the top of the bowl (shows in the photographs at about 9'oclock -super minor). The rings are nicely defined on this example. Gauranteed to please. Measures an impressive 12 1/2"w x 3 1/2"t.
