Happy Heidi Vintage Fiesta

Vintage Harlequin Half Pound Butter Dish in Original Maroon | Circa 1938-1941

Circa 1938-1941: Collectors of solid color vintage Homer Laughlin China will appreciate how hard it is to find the butter dishes, especially in the earliest colors, such as this example in maroon. What a great addition to the collection! The Harlequin butter dish shape was borrowed from a line called Jade, which was designed in the early 1930s. The vintage fiesta ware line didn't have a butter dish, so collectors will borrow from other Homer Laughlin pottery lines. Referred to as the 1/2 pound butter, all examples are hard to find. Early pottery techniques include a molded ram pressed base, a slip cast finial that would have been hand attached to the delicate slip cast lid along with hand dipping into the glaze piece by piece. This example in the early maroon color is in very good condition. Please note a few very minute spots of use on the inside well of the butters bottom dish and a minor area of lighter glaze around the lids finial. Considering the rarity of this piece in this color it is a great, hard to find piece. Measures 9 1/8" w x 3 3/4" h.
