Circa 1936-1942: There is perhaps no other piece that is as complex and artistic as the fiesta tripod candleholders, designed by Frederick Rhead and labeled in his sketch book as a "candlestick, three supports". Slip cast with liquid clay in a four part mold then joined and smoothed by hand, this intricate design showcases Homer Laughlins artistic vision. Examples in collector quality condition are very hard to find. This ivory pair is a spectacular example. Both pieces are marked in the mold on the bottom "fiesta HLCo USA" and show the fully glazed bottom. Measures 4 9/19" wide across the base and 3 1/2" tall.
