Circa 1940-1942: Although the Harlequin individual salad bowl enjoyed great success for 20 years, the red glazed examples were only in production for a mere three years before Homer Laughlin had to cease production of the red glaze due to the uranium that was used in the formula that was instead needed for WWII. Consequently, this unexpected end to the red glazes production will make many pieces of that color harder to find. This example is one of those. It is a great treat to find an example of this thick walled construced, ringed bowl in excellent condition. Measures a generous 7 12" wide. Rings on the outside bottom and outside upper edges are its tell-tale details, along with the three sagar marks on the underside bottom. Fantastic condition without signs of damage or use.
