Circa 1938-1941: Wonderful spruce green glaze was one of the original colors developed for the Harlequin line and is a delight to add to your collection. Produced for only 4 short years, spruce glazed items are becoming harder and harder to find - this example is a rare treat. Sometimes reffered to as the "ball jug". This pattern was probably based on a Hall China piece made nearby in East Liverpool, Ohio. The Hall jug is slightly smaller and is readily confused as Fiesta pottery. The Harlequin ball jug is a fabulous piece with its distinctive, trademark rings around the base. It was made in all twelve harlequin colors. Standing at 7 1/4" x 8 1/2" wide this spruce Harlequin water pitcher is in excellent condition with no damage, no chips or cracks or touchups or repairs. Please note one in the making glaze pop in the front lower part of the ball pitcher (shown in photo two). This piece has a dry, wiped, base where it was shelf loaded into the kilns. Wonderful, early, spruce color in unusually good condition.
