Circa 1936-1941: Homer Laughlin's spruce glaze has the distinction of being one of the original four colors used in the Harlequin dinnerware line, not used in any other solid color lines (with the exception of a few pieces of the obscure tango line) and discontinued early. Spruce is a unique and exciting color to collect and was in production for a very short amount of time. Finding any is a treat and collectors will appreciate the dramatic contrast the color adds to their ensembles. This example of the Harlequin cup and saucer set in the spruce glaze shows the most gentle of wear but is without chips, cracks, touchups or repairs and boasts a good glaze application with bold and even color. Cup measures 3 5/8"wide x 2 3/4" high. Saucer measures 5 7/8" across by 7/8" high. Unmarked as all original vintage Harlequin was.
