Happy Heidi Vintage Fiesta

Vintage Harlequin Basketweave Ashtray in Original Spruce Green Glaze | Circa 1939-1941

Circa 1939-1941: Although most of the dinnerware found in the Harlequin line have bands of rings like the fiestaware, the intricate criss cross patterns found on both the nut dish and the basketweave ashtray stands out as highly decorative and unique elements not found on any other pieces in the solid color dinnerware lines. It is well documented that the pattern was copied after the Japanese Marutomo ware with the only real difference being the removal of some hand painted floral motifs over the glaze. The basketweave ashtray was released in Late 1939 and the spruce green glaze discontinued by the end of 1941 making this shape rare in this color, only being produced for a little over two year. This example is in excellent condition and shows no sign of use or damage. Measures 4 1/2" wide by 1" high.
