Circa 1938-1951: Homer Laughlin began producing Harlequin in the late 30s for the Woolworth five and dime stores. The sauce (or gravy) boat was added to the line shortly after its succesful release. A popular piece that ran for the rest of the length of production, dipped in all twelve glazes, the Harlequin sauce boat commands much more presence than one might think. The long, angular handle brings the total length of the piece to 8 1/2". The mauve blue glaze was discontinued by 1951. This example is in excellent condition.
