Circa 1936-1938: The number one size bowl is the smallest of the 7 piece set and is becoming very hard to find, especially in good, collector quality condition. The earliest bowls, like this one, had extra inside bottom rings etched into the bowls by hand on a jiggering machine. To speed up production time, Homer Laughlin removed these labor intensive extra rings by 1938. Collectors will appreciate how hard it is to find the number one nesting bowl from this time period in the original old ivory glaze. This example is in very good condition with nicely defined inside bottom rings and a smooth interior that shows no damage or use. Please note the bowl is discounted for a very tiny chip top inside edge of the rim and two also very very tiny chips on the underside base. None of these are very big and are very hard to see in the ivory. This bowl has been discounted for these minor apologies, but it actually an extremely nice example with crisp rings and a great even glaze without scratches or stains. (Photo one about six o'clock you can make out the very shallow rim flake). Measures 4 15/16" x 3 9/16"
