Happy Heidi Vintage Fiesta

Vintage Fiesta Utility Tray in Original Green Glaze, Unmarked Version | Circa 1939-1946

Circa 1938-1946: The utility tray is an interesting piece with many variations along with many uses. The earliest trays were made on a ram press and will have a dry white foot and straight sides, but they tended to warp under the pressure of the ram press, so modifications were made and they began to slip cast the trays. Slip cast trays will have slightly angled sides and fully glazed bottoms. They were marked and also unmarked. (And it seems like these are only general characteristics with variations to each). This example has the angled sides and the fully glazed bottom and is unmarked, possibly indicating that it was made early in 1938 before the GENUINE under glaze stamp became widely used. Please not some very minor wear, but no chips or cracks, touchups or repairs. Discounted accordingly. Only produced in the original six colors, the utility trays are just that - very utilitarian. They work great to hold range shakers or as a spoon rest and also look great stacked in a nice little rainbow of colors. Measures 10 1/2" long x 1 1/4" tall.
