Circa 1933-1940: During the 1930s Homer Laughlin China Company produced a large variety of decals that they decorated their pottery with. We're mostly familiar with Mexicana and other southwestern themes, like this example of the Conchita decal on the large Kitchen Kraft ball jar. The decal consists of a snake plant in a blue pot inbetween a double yellow clay pot and a flowering cactus. A large grouping of colorful hanging fruit also adorn the scene. Four decals wrap the body of the large jar and a cluster of fruit on the lid. The red stripes would have been hand applied after glazing. The piece is marked on the bottom (blurry glaze stamp) HLCo Kitchen Kraft Oven Serve. This example is in very good condition without damage, just some minor age staining that doesn't detract. Measures 7 1/10" tall x 8" across.
