Circa 1940: The American Potter Exhibit— The Zodiac cup and saucer set, introduced during the second year of the World's Fair for the Joint Exhibit of Capital and Labor, was not made in large quantities and will prove extremely hard to find. This is only the second example I have found in excellent, undamaged condition in over 20 years of collecting. Nicely marked on the bottom "Joint Exhibit of Capital and Labor. The American Potter • New York Worlds Fair • 40" and adorned all around with wonderfully artistic embossed renditions of the zodiac signs on both the cup and the saucer, culminating in a coiled snake handle, the artistry doesn't get any better than this. A real treat that showcases the craftsmans abilities at modeling and designing. Enjoy!
