Circa 1933-1940: From the Native American Tribes Series— Sometime in the 1930s Homer Lauglin China Company produced a few patterns of decals for their Native American Tribes collection. Represented were they Cheyenne, Crow, Sioux and Pueblo tribes and one decal depicting a pair of canoes. All are extremely rare and only a few pieces surface every decade. This is an example of the Cheyenne decal, marked in gold on the back, on the 11 1/2 inch tabbed handled batter tray. Four corner decals and one large central motif decorate the platter along with the hand applied red stripes highlighting the handle and rim. The decal is in very good shape, with the corner decals remaining in excellent condition. There is one small chip on the reverse of the platter on one corner, very minor. This rare decal is showcased on the ivory vellum glaze from the century line. Measures 12" x 9".
