Circa 1939: The American Potter Exhibit— The highly detailed, embossed potters plates that Bill Barrisford and Garvin Miller created for Homer Laughlin's participation in the Joint Exhibit of Capital and Labor for the New York 1939 Worlds Fair are a joyous celebration of talent, technique and artistry. The embossed plaques came in two scenes, "Thrower at the Wheel" and "Artist Decorating a Vase". Both scenes were produced in the original Vintage Fiesta turquoise glaze, a brown glaze, a tan and a harder to find ivory color. Please note a few in the making flecks under the glaze, as photographed. This example of the Potters Wheel Embossed plate, in the original ivory glaze, is nicely marked on the back "The American Potter, New York Worlds Fair, Joint Exhibit of Capital and Labor 1939". Measures 7 3/16" across.
