Circa 1939: The American Potter Exhibit— The highly detailed, embossed potters plaques that Bill Barrisford and Garvin Miller created for Homer Laughlin's participation in the Joint Exhibit of Capital and Labor for the New York 1939 Worlds Fair are a joyous celebration of talent, technique and artistry. The embossed plaques came in two scenes, "Thrower at the Wheel" and "Artist at the Wheel". This example of the "Thrower at the Wheel" in the original ivory glaze, is nicely marked on the back and is in excellent condition. Please note a couple minor in the making specks in the glaze and a little wear on the raised hand. Examples in the original fiestaware ivory vellum are harder to find than the other glaze colors and mix into fiesta collections to add unique interest. Measures 7 3/16" across.
