Circa 1939-1942: The Riviera line takes advantage of the many sizes and styles of platters were in use at Homer Laughlin. From 10-15 inches in multiple variations, there's a seemingly endless array of platters to collect, but it is the red versions that will prove more than twice as hard as any others to find, especially in excellent, undamaged condition. This example of the large 13" oval platter with tabbed lug handles is an outstanding example of the piece and showcases a stellar glaze. Made in a ram press, this large piece is also straight and flat without any warping. There are the lightest of use marks on the outside edges of the well that are barely visible, other than that this piece saw very little use and has been well cared for it's whole life. Unmarked and with the three kiln stilt marks on the back. Measures over 13" wide.
