Vintage Fiesta Cake Plates | Circa March 1937-September 1937

Made for only six months in the late 30's, the vintage Fiesta cake plate is one of the most saught after items in the pottery line. The scarce Fiesta cake plate is only found in the four original colors of red, light green, yellow and cobalt. Slightly over 10" wide and stunningly flat,, the back side is covered in thick, abundant concentric rings. Lots of handwork would be involved in the potteries early history as each piece would have the rings added one potter at a time on the jiggering maching, fired once, hand dipped in glazes, sat on stilts in the kiln (thus the three sagger marks on the back of the plates where they kiss away the fresh glaze). The result is a type of pottery that will never again be replicated.

Circa March 1937- Late 1937: Produced for a scant 6 month, the vintage Fiesta cake plate is a rare piece that shows up less and less and is a great find in such great condition. This rare cake plate is absolutely beautiful and has but one very tiny and nearly undetectable glaze nick that does not detract from the visual impact of this lovely piece of pottery.

Circa March 1937- Late 1937: The vintage fiesta cake plate may look just like the dinner plate at first glance, but closer inspection shows a completely flat surface, with no slight raising at the edges and a backside completely covered with rings. It is the rings and the flatness that will gaurantee you have a cake plate and not a regular dinner plate. Another piece discontinued early, like the mixing bowl lid and the onion soup bowl.
