Riviera Pottery Butter Dish in Original Harlequin Blue (Mauve) Glaze for Sale | Circa 1938-1944

Circa 1938-1944: Quarter Pound— While there was never a butter dish designed for the original Fiestaware line, Homer Laughlin looked to their many other pottery collections and pulled from both their Century and Jade examples. The small quarter pound version will be found dipped in the Riviera colors of Harlequin blue (mauve), yellow, original Fiesta green and original Fiesta red. The quarter pound butter was produced on the ram press, insuring a thick, uniform body (albiet sometimes warped slightly from the pressure of the press, making slightly wobbly pieces normal). This example is in much better than average condition with a nice even glaze and no scratches, chips or repairs. Please note a few pinpops on the inside base of the tray, otherwise a very clean example of an increasingly hard to find piece. Collectors will rejoice at this delightful lidded butter in the great Harlequin blue colored glaze, produced for only a short time.
