Circa 1936-1946: One of the earliest pieces of pottery in the vintage fiesta line. Measuring nearly 11 1/2 inches wide, it is an ambitious piece of work. A very early version would have had the foot cast seperately and then joined. These examples have the fiesta mark embossed into the mold, while the later versions will be unmarked or marked with the glaze stamp. Joining the foot on the large, heavy bowl was troublesome so a new mold was made where the foot was part of the mold and would be shaped by hand. The inside ring patterns are also different on these two versions, with the earlier bowls having more closely banded rings that stop 1 1/2" into the bowl, while the later version will have 2" of wider, looser bands of rings. Both versions would have been fully dipped in glaze and placed on three stilts to dry and be fired, thus the three stilt marks that would have pulled off the glaze from piece when removed from the kiln. The vintage fiesta
footed salad bowl is a spectacular piece to add to your collection and was only produced for ten years and is found in the first six original vintage fiesta
colors.
