Every Fiesta collector will have their favorite color, but, eventually, all original eleven of the Vintage Fiesta colors will come to fascinate and tantilize us. The blue glaze is one of the initial five colors (red, yellow, blue, green and ivory) to be used on the original Fiesta shapes and introduced to the world in 1936. The glaze specialist at Homer Laughlin in the 20s and 30s was Dr. Albert Victor Bleininger, and, although we are all enamored with the Fiesta design, it truly is the vintage glazes that sets the pottery apart from its contemporary post '86 sibling. Designer Frederick Rhead refers to the original Fiesta blue in his journals as "deep blue," and deep it is. Anyone who has added the Vintage Fiesta cobalt blue to their collection will appreciate the contrast the deep glaze creates in their table settings and their cabinet collections. Simply referred to as "blue" by HLCo, this rich glaze has, without a doubt, held the test of time.
