The Fiesta disk water pitcher may be the most universally recognized shape in the entire Fiesta pottery line. The disc shaped pitcher was introduced in the early spring of 1938. Large, but not overwhelming, the fiesta pitcher holds 71 ounces and stands 7 1/2" tall. The disc pitcher was in production throughout fiestawares entire original life and is again being made today with new glazes and slight variations. But it is the iconic original, with the early color formulations and double firing techniques that set the vintage version so far ahead of its contemporary. Found in all the fiesta colors, including medium green, the disk water pitcher remains the classic American tableware piece.

Circa 1938-1969: When designer Frederick Rhead was first putting pen to paper, creating the Fiestaware line, his hope was to develop a shape for colored glazes, based upon concentric fluted circles. The Fiesta disk water pitcher is the fruition of this idea, which took over 20 sketches and many models before deciding on the final version.
